Convincing my inner ‘ME’

Let me tell you about an inner conflict, resolving which has given me more happiness than ever before. Before I start, let me share with you what ushered in this change. Let me be frank, I don’t like to plan my days. For me, planning means being predictable. For planners, knowing what they are going to do on a day gives them focus and if accomplished gives them satisfaction at the end of the day, sorry! but it didn’t work for me. I found it dull and boring. I try to make life vivid by not outlining it, but instead randomizing it. I used to always wonder how my friends plan out their days in a structured way and how they stick to it. Planning is really not going to work for me, as my inner ‘ME’ doesn’t agree to it.

Inner ‘ME’ is a friend inside me who is always chattering and persuading me to do things in a certain way, telling me how bad or good I am, intrinsically echoing all the time. Can you imagine how much time I used to spend convincing this ‘ME’, one such instance is when I want to wake up from the bed and get going, but ‘ME’ would be like how much you love your bed and how soft it is, lol! In a nutshell, I started a war with this ‘ME’ on certain occasions, where we didn’t agree anymore. To ignore ME’s chattering, I gathered a ‘let it be’ attitude. Eventually, my inner ‘ME’ started kneeling down.

Well, it took some time to convince my inner ‘ME’ to be aligned with my plans. We joined hands to evolve to be a better version of myself, and bring a better approach for the next day.

First small change I did was to try waking up early, started waking up at 6.30, slowly moved to 6 and now I can wake up by 5.30am with a little bit of snuggling with my blanket. This gave more time in the morning, that means productive mornings and happier me. Followed by a workout and then a nice bath for a fresh start. And this goes on, one by one in a flow and not like a rigid plan. Furthermore focused on giving some time to do things I love { this list keeps wavering, so not laying it here :) }. And also eat healthy food and check on my nutrition level (as my vitamins were a bit low), to ensure my energy levels are good enough to have a pleasant day.

That is the mantra here, you make your new lifestyle intriguing and not boring. You have a rough plan in your head which you can tweak in a very rhythmic way according to your current mood and surroundings and achieve the goals for the day. Finally, when you wrap up for that day, that feeling of satisfaction is very fulfilling, which can’t be put in words here. The upshot here is a person with a randomized outlook transformed to a version which is a just out brew of planning and spontaneity. And this combo keeps me and inner ‘ME’ elated most of the time.

You have to experience it to truly discern what I’m trying to say here, if you have already, do share it with me! Post your comments and let me know how did you bring about changes in life, I would love to hear!
